This group is for those who are interested in Japan and/or the study of foreign languages. Although the Japanese language is classified as one of the hardest languages to learn for native speakers of English, there are many Americans and other non-Japanese who can communicate in Japanese well.
So, why not to start to learn something a little different from what you have done before? The class will mainly focus on speaking and listening skills with lots of activities through which you will learn reading and writing as well as Japanese culture.
As a continuing study group since August 2013, this group is for those who are interested in Japan and/or the Japanese language.
Although the members of the current group came from various backgrounds, all of us have been thrilled to study together and are making steady progress with this language including learning its unique letters. For this second term, we would welcome new members who are willing to study something new.
The instructor is a UMD grad student who has been teaching Japanese language for over 15 years in the US, Japan and other countries.
This group will meet at 2:30pm every Sunday for one hour. This first term will have 15 classes starting on August 18and ending in November. The second term will meet at 7:30pm every Monday for one hour, starting January 13.
The total class fee will be $300 ($20 each class). A fee for class materials (about $5 for the 15 classes) will also be charged. Please come and join us for this new group!
