We host Repair Café once every three months, the week before Greenbelt Electronics Recycling day. Our next event is Oct 17, 2015. Below is some historical information about our Café until we have time to update this page. If you have any questions, use our contact form to reach us or stop by the MakerSpace at 125 Centerway in Greenbelt MD.
Toss it? No way!
Back in September we asked, you responded, and we’ll make it happen!
With the help of the Jim Cassels Award, a grant from the Greenbelt Co-op Supermarket & Pharmacy, Club125 will host a Repair Café on January 18, 2014, and again once a quarter, the week before Greenbelt’s Electronics Recycling Day. This one-day, repeating event will be based on the program created by the Repair Café Netherlands Foundation. They have 275 affiliates, and we will be one of the first to open in the Mid-Atlantic region.
How will it work?
We’ll invite several local experts to set up repair stations at Club125, and you bring in your broken stuff. It can be anything including electrical appliances, computers, electronics, clothing, furniture, crokery, housewares, bicycles, toys, etc. So don’t throw it away, stash it in the back of a closet, or a corner of your attic, basement, or garage, and then bring it down to the club on the day of the event. Sorry, we don’t have room to store your stuff. Disclaimer, we can’t fix everything and we’ll not be liable for anything. But if you accept that disclaimer, the good news is that this community service is FREE! Donations will be accepted to feed and reward our volunteers, and you may need to pay for any new items (fuses, circuit cards) needed to complete a repair.
Please, tell us more about what you expect to need fixed or if you are interested in being a volunteer repair person or helper. Thanks and we look forward to seeing you on Jan 18! Remember to Reduce, Reuse, REPAIR, and Recycle.
